8 Behaviors of Successful People, Part II

On this cold Minnesotan day, we continue our look at yoga and behaviors of successful people, inspired by this article from Forbes.com.

Turning Wishful Thinking Into Action:  It’s all about baby steps.  In a well-designed yoga class, we slowly warm and build up to a peak posture- the cherry to our sundae, the summit to our Everest, the apex of our practice.  Moving too quickly into a posture poses a potential risk of injury, setting you back instead of pushing you forward.

It’s a great lesson to take off of the mat and into the conference room.  Projects are big and lead times are long.  Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was your last big campaign.  Successful people aren’t afraid to take on the big tasks because they know and understand the small things it takes to get there- both personally and professionally.

On your next big project- take a lesson from your yoga mat.  Warm yourself up- outline the necessary steps it will take to realistically get you from point A to point B.  Breaking up a large, daunting task suddenly seems more attainable, just like Bakasana (Crow Pose) or 8 Crooked Limbs.
