“Go go go, stay tough, don’t be impacted by it, keep moving!”

We were inspired by this article from The Huffington Post last month, highlighting “Code Lavendar,” a hospital’s response to stressed patients, family members and now, employees.

The hospital isn’t just any hospital, it’s the top-rated Cleveland Clinic, and their program helps numerous nurses, physicians and other staff members cope with the ongoing stressors of their work helping patients and families in trauma.  Employees report feeling supported and sustained by their workplace.

Your work environment may not include the life-changing stressors that the employees of the Cleveland Clinic face every day, but spending 40+ hours on the job certainly bears weight on your being.  8 out of 10 Americans report being stressed due to work, whether it is due to workload, commute, or relationships.  More and more focus is being put on being mindful at work to ease stress, create focus and establish positive working relationships amongst employees.  Ongoing stressful environments are proving unsuccessful as long-term solutions and merely cause employee burnout over time.

We’re a bit biased, but we at Studio925 think yoga is a great addition to your workday to prevent employee burnout and enhance focus and dedication.  It provides an hour (or 4!) during the week to recenter, rejuvenate, and relax amongst heavy deadlines.  It teaches practitioners to focus on breath, the body, the mind.  It teaches how to use this intrinsic knowledge to get through the day focused and productive rather than stressed and distracted.
