8 Behaviors of Successful People, Part II
On this cold Minnesotan day, we continue exploring yoga and the behaviors of successful people, inspired by this article from Forbes.com.
Turning Wishful Thinking into Action
It’s all about baby steps. In a well-designed yoga class, we slowly warm up and build toward a peak posture—the cherry on top of our sundae, the summit of our Everest, the apex of our practice. Rushing into a pose risks injury, potentially setting you back instead of pushing you forward.
This is a great lesson to apply off the mat and in the conference room. Big projects take time, and long lead times are often required. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither was your last big campaign. Successful people aren’t afraid to tackle large tasks because they understand the importance of small, consistent steps—both personally and professionally.
Apply This Lesson to Your Next Project
The next time you take on a big project, take a cue from your yoga practice. Warm yourself up—outline the necessary steps to get from point A to point B. Breaking a large, overwhelming task into smaller steps makes it more attainable—just like mastering Bakasana (Crow Pose) or Eight-Angle Pose (Astavakrasana).
